Kraus, Beatrice (Marriage - 11 July 1953)  
 

St. Mary’s Catholic church, Colby, was the setting of the Nuptial High Mass and double-ring ceremony at 9:00 o’clock Saturday morning which united in marriage Miss Beatrice Kraus, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. J. Kraus, Colby, and Douglas Rifleman, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jess Rifleman, Edgar. The Rev. Frank Brickl was the officiant.  
 

Approaching the altar on the arm of her father, the bride was gowned in a lace over taffeta frock fashioned with a scalloped neckline, edged with a net ruffle, short sleeves and a full, gathered skirt. Her sheer finger tip veil was caught to a lace pillbox hat trimmed with pearls. Rhubrum lilies, white baby mums and swansonia with streamers composed her bouquet.  
 

Mrs. S. E. Zavala, Chicago, a sister of the bride, as matron of honor, wore a white lace and net over chartreuse taffeta gown, featuring a lace bodice, scalloped neckline, and cap sleeves. Alternate flounces of lace and net formed the full skirt which was ankle length. Lace and net covered the chartreuse taffeta which formed the sweetheart shaped brim of the half-hat with short matching veil. She carried a colonial bouquet of yellow tinted carnations with green streamers.  
 

The bride’s three attendants - Mrs. L. K. Hildebrand, Colby, the bride’s cousin, Miss Carol Gottschalk, Edgar, the groom’s niece, junior bridesmaid, and Miss Raquel Morales, Chicago, the bride’s niece, also a junior bridesmaid - wore white lace and net over chartreuse taffeta formals styled like the matron of honor’s. Their head dresses were also the same and they each carried a bouquet of yellow tinted carnations.  
 

S. E. Zavala, Chicago, the bride’s brother-in-law, was best man, and William Rifleman, Edgar, a brother of the groom, was groomsman. The bride’s cousins, John and David Frane, Colby, ushered.  
 

Catherine Paula Morales, Chicago, as flower girl, wore a dress like the bridesmaids, and carried a white basket of mixed summer flowers.  
 

Mrs. Alois Gabriel, a sister of the bride, presided at the organ and sang Back-Gounod’s "Ave Maria," during the offertory.  
 

A reception from 12:00, noon, to 4:00 p.m. in the church gymnasium, was attended by 250 guests.  
 

The bride, a graduate of the Colby high school, was cashier at the Marshfield Clinic for 18 months. The groom, a graduate of the Edgar high school, served in the U.S. army during World War II. He is the rural mail carrier at Edgar.  
 

After a trip through western states, the couple will reside at Edgar.
